Thirty-four researchers analyze social change in what was a significant period for the Spanish economy, including events such as the end of dictatorship and the transition to democracy. At times the focus has to be shifted as far back as the Civil War in an effort to understand the attitudes and behavior of Spanish society today. The research offers verifiable information on various social aspects such as consumerism, drug addition, national identity, religion, radicalism, youth, the elderly, unemployment, IT, social mobility, etc. It establishes support points to help make more likely conjectures as to future trends. This work has been published by the BBV Foundation as one of a number of national profiles already presented in the international Comparative Social Cartography Project, which aims to construct a better model of social change in the modern world than that available until now.
